Activity 2: What’s in a Name?
During the 1950s the population of New Zealand grew by 400,000 people. That is huge! In fact, so many people were having babies that many people refer to this period in our history as the ‘baby boom.’ Popular baby names in 1950s New Zealand were:
GIRLS BOYS
Christine John
Susan David
Margaret Peter
Judith Michael
Jennifer Robert
Read through the lists. Are these popular names in your school? On your blog, tell us which names are currently popular in your school. Please provide, at least, three girls’ names and three boys’ names that are popular.
When I was going to school, the name ‘Jennifer’ was the most popular girl’s name and the name ‘Matthew’ was the most popular boy’s name.
I am telling the truth the on the list only one of the children have this name which is Peter. We don't have any girls on the list that are named like that I think in 2017 the names are very intrusting.
Do you have anyone in your school and there name is on you list write there name down bellow.
Hi Siyona,
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting that Peter is the only name that is still around in your school. When I was at school, the three most common boys' names were Sam, Nick and Thomas. The three most popular girls' names were Rachel, Sarah and Lucy. I never met anyone else at school called Hazel. Are there many other people at your school called Siyona?
I'd love to be able to give you full points for this activity. Can you tell me the three most popular boys' names and the three most popular girls' names in your school?
