Week Two: A Period of Change (1870-1950

Activity 2: Art Deco
In the 1920s a new artistic movement emerged in New Zealand (and around the world). It was called ‘Art Deco.’ The picture to the right is a classic example of an ‘Art Deco’ piece. Take a close look at the painting. Do you like it?

I rate this picher 5 stars because it looks so pritty and butifull and I love the colours that our usen in this picher and I also like the colour of the car I  think the artest throt about the colours carefully.

  1. Kia Ora Siyona,

Wow, you must have been busy blogging so much over the past few days!

Great idea to include a picture of the painting in your post.

I also really like this painting; I agree that the artist must have thought very hard about which colours she wanted to use. The green is very beautiful.

Why do you think that she decided to paint a self portrait of her sitting in a car? If I was going to paint a self portrait, I would want to show things that are important to me, so I would probably include my dogs. What would you include in your self portrait?

    Hazel :)
