Week Four: Contemporary Kiwis

Activity 1:  Celebrating a Win
In 2000, the country of New Zealand celebrated when Russell Coutts and his sailing team won their second straight America’s Cup. This was the first time that a team from New Zealand had won back-to-back championships! Many people celebrated the victory with their friends and family.

On your blog, tell us what you and your family do to celebrate special events, such as birthdays. Do you have a special meal or go to a specific place?

  1. Hey Siyona,

This is Jade C from the Summer Learning Journey 2018. I will be reading your blog over this summer holidays.

It's great to see you getting actively involved with Summer Learning Journey programme, I would love to read more of your activity blog posts!

I also think that India has a lot of cool and exciting cultural festivals and celebrations! This year I participated in the Diwali celebration by going to the festival held in Auckland city central. I got a butterfly henna tattoo done on my wrist and it was beautifully done. I loved it!

I want to go to Holi festival and be covered with bright colours, just thinking about it makes me excited, it's going to be super fun!

My family and I celebrate Christmas and on Christmas we go to church in the morning to celebrate with our church friends. I also bake Christmas cookies and cake for Christmas dinner with my family.

Happy New Year and I hope to hear back from you :)

    Cheers,

    Jade C.
