Week Four: Contemporary Kiwis

Tell three intrusting facts about salsa
Expansion of Salsa  to the United States represents one of the most important points in the history of this dance.
Infectious mix of tango, mambo, and flamenco and other dance styles began spreading across Caribbean during 1920s, often with innovations coming from night clubs in never sleeping Havana.
3As America went through turbulent changes with the age of Prohibition, tremendous influx of American tourists to the Caribbean countries enabled rapid spreading of new musical styles across western hemisphere.

  1. Hey Siyona,

It's Jade C from the Summer Learning Journey team. I am happy to read more of your activity blog posts!

I like your choice - salsa! Is there a reason why you chose that dance? I've never danced to Latin American music but I've seen many performances through movies and short clips. Have you watched or have danced salsa before?

I like your first fact. Salsa dance and Latin music originated from Cuba and had been introduced and transformed in America. I like salsa dance because it's not slow, it's super fast and active. You have to dance with a partner as well! Would you want to learn salsa?

Have you heard of a place called 'Havana'? It's an amazing and colourful city full of music and dance. Here is a link to see photographs of Havana.

I would love to hear back from you and look forward to read more of your wonderful blog posts :)

    All the best,
    Jade C.
