Week Four: Contemporary Kiwis

Activity 2: Sporting Heroes

In 2015, a kiwi golfer named Lydia Ko became the youngest woman in the world to reach the #1 ranking.  She was only 17 years old. Many people from here in New Zealand and overseas really admire her and think of her as a modern-day sporting hero. Who is your sporting hero? They can be a famous athlete, or even a member of your family or community. It’s completely up to you.

On your blog tell us about your sporting hero. Who are they? Why are they a hero? Include a photo of them in your blog post.

My sporting hero is Richie McCaw because he plays relly good rugby. He is a hero because he is the capitin for ruby.

  1. Hey Siyona,

This is Jade C from the Summer Learning Journey team. I can see that you are working on week 4 and week 2 activities! Are you planning to work on week 1 and week 3 activities as well? It would be great if you did :) You still have 2 more weeks left to complete all the activities!

It's interesting to see that your sports hero is Richie McCaw! Do you like rugby? I like rugby only because New Zealand is really good at it, but I am a huge soccer fan! I can't wait for the FIFA world cup 2018 -I am super excited! What is your favourite sport?

I also like watching basketball games, it's fun because basketball is a very active sport so you can't take your eyes off from the players and the ball! It's very exciting to actually be there to watch the match as you support them by cheering. It's sad that I can't go to watch FIFA World Cup. I would love to if I had the chance!

I look forward to reading your other awesome posts! :)

    Jade C.
